The useful answer

Understand how to test customer automation before it is trusted with live inquiries and follow-up.

Automation testing should prove the customer journey, not merely confirm that a trigger fired. A useful test covers valid and invalid inputs, delayed services, duplicate events, human escalation, customer-facing messages, saved records, and a safe recovery path when an outside system is unavailable.

A workflow can look finished in a demo while still losing context, duplicating messages, or failing silently when a real customer behaves differently from the happy path.

Three signals worth inspecting

  1. 01Only the happy path was tested
  2. 02Failures do not alert an owner
  3. 03Duplicate actions can reach a customer
